A dense book that shows why we can believe in a God who does miracles

Convinced that there is Evidence for the Flood?

If you watched the film “Is Genesis History?”, you probably came away with a better understanding of the evidence that there might have been a Flood. Still, it was clearly not absolute proof that the Flood ever happened. So, why is the Flood an important part of God’s story?

From my perspective, the Flood is just one example of how God’s power is either magnified or diminished in the mind of the believer. What do I mean by that, and why is it important? Simple: If the Flood happened:

  • All of humanity descended from the family of Noah. Darwin would never have bought into that concept!
  • All plants and animals (but clearly not sea life) came from those that Noah brought on the Ark.

More Proof!

The Flood, if true, cut short any Darwinian evolution theories by thousands of years! So that should prove that the Flood never happened, right? Not in my mind. For years, Darwin’s theory ruled the scientific community. But, as science caught up and began to understand how our genetics work, they learned that evolution doesn’t work as fast as Darwin thought it did. In fact, there are two critical problems with his theory. If his claim is that all the diversity of life began with a single-celled organism and then somehow evolved into what we see on this planet today, that theory doesn’t fly because:

  • Scientists have discovered that there are genetic “walls” that would prevent some forms of life from ever evolving into another (e.g., a salamander could never evolve into an elephant).
  • Current calculations put the Earth at somewhere in the vicinity of 17 billion years old. Even the evolutionists agree that we’d need ~3 trillion years to achieve the level of evolution we have today (See references below). And, because of the genetic walls, even 3 trillion years would not be enough!

So, if God sent a Flood that restarted civilization and (at least some of the other forms of life), He severely cut short the time in which any of them had to evolve. The Flood (if true) only serves to magnify the miracle of all life on this planet because God did it all in far less time! When we put our faith in science where it contradicts God, we diminish God.
