I have spent 30+ years of my career in the entrepreneurial world. I was the principal founder of The Venture Alliance – the first and only rating service for private equity investing, and a founding principal of TVA Capital, LLC – an investment bank specializing in early to mid-stage investing.  I founded the first national angel investment network, Angel Strategies, and was a founding member of Mission Ventures in San Diego, CA, a venture capital firm that raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars. Since 1987, I have been the personal advisor to hundreds of top-level executives across a diverse range of industries, including computers and electronics, aerospace and defense, energy and mining, telecommunications, and medical-based industries. I was co-founder and CEO of the ABL Organization and Executive Director of SoCAL Ten, the two leading networking organizations for CEOs of venture-backed companies.  I am also a founding member and past Chairman of the Board of the Forum for Corporate Directors (FCD), a leading corporate governance organization.  Prior to that, I was the Chairman of the Board and CEO of TRG Consultancy, Inc., a firm that specialized in providing quality resources to growing high-technology companies.

My corporate background covered fifteen years in the healthcare industry, including ten years with Allergan Pharmaceuticals and five years with Bear Medical Systems, Inc.  I joined Allergan when it was a $10 million regional pharmaceutical company and assisted in its growth to a $250 million publicly traded and internationally dominant leader.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California at Irvine and an MBA from Pepperdine University.  I have previously held FINRA Series 7, 63, and 24 General Securities and Principal licenses. In addition to my consulting and board involvements, I have written and/or been quoted in numerous articles on the topics of corporate governance, executive and business trends, plus strategies for survival in uncertain times. Since 2018, I have been “semi-retired,” spending most of my time helping my alma mater, Pepperdine, to build the largest entrepreneurial competition in the world.

My most proud achievement has been to be married to my childhood sweetheart, Kris, for >50 years. My second most is that I’ve been a dedicated Christian since 1961 and, over the years, have taught numerous Bible studies, been a church leader, and am in the process of writing two books. My lifelong passion has been to study and extract the wisdom of the Bible and share it with others.
